SHEBOYGAN — Local authorities contend they are benefiting after a personality of a website, indicted of organizing and profiting off a tellurian sex trade, was arrested.
On Thursday, Oct 6th, a CEO of Backpage, Carl Ferrer, was arrested in Texas and indicted of pimping children. The 55-year-old’s website has been called a “hub for a bootleg sex trade.” Prosecutors contend Ferrer intentionally pocketed millions of dollars as a formula of ads posted to this site, offered adults and children for sex.
“Backpage is a site where we typically find escorts advertised. Humans for sale,” pronounced Tamara Remington, Sheboygan military detective.
Remington specializes in tellurian trafficking cases. She called Ferrer’s detain a victory. Next, she hopes a site shuts down altogether.
“There are no geographical boundaries. No office is defence from this,” pronounced Remington.
Remington pronounced she’s now operative on 7 cases of adult or child sex trafficking cases that engage or issue on Backpage. She says Backpage has traditionally been a many prevalent passage for these crimes though they’ve been discovered.
