Tesla Inc. is being granted a one-year tariff exemption on roughly 11,000 tons of Japanese aluminum that the company wants to import into the U.S., Reuters reports. The aluminum, sold by Nippon Light Metal Co Ltd., is “not produced in the United States in a sufficient and reasonably available amount or of a satisfactory quality,” the U.S. Commerce Department wrote in a government document dated June 5.
