After stalling for weeks, a proposed hike in tobacco taxes to fund Medicaid took another step closer to the finish line on Thursday. The House Committee on Revenue passed House Bill 2270 by a vote of 5-to-2, but an amendment would send the package to voters for approval if it passes into law.
